Igloo Village Honeymoon in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland
The Hotel Igloo Village in Kangerlussuaq,
Greenland, is the smallest of the ice hotels with just
four rooms and an ice bar. Ice sculptures form an avenue leading to the
hotel, which is essentially six large igloos connected by tunnels.
Guests sleep in sleeping bags on beds of musk ox furs; the hotel is
lit by candles at night. Read more about this and other ice hotels
on the Ice Hotel Honeymoon
overview page.

Kangerlussuaq, where the Igloo Village
is located, is a community of about 650; the web site for another hotel
there boasts primarily of the silence. Still, you can enjoy many of the
winter pursuits available at the other ice hotels, such as snowmobiling
and dogsledding—plus some pursuits the other hotels can't claim, such
as musk ox photo safaris, icecap wildlife tours, and golfing at the
world's northernmost golf course.
While the Igloo Village is the
smallest of the ice hotels, Greenland might be an attractive destination
in itself. At 810,810 square miles, Greenland is the world's largest
island, yet fewer than 60,000 people live there. That makes it one of
the world's most pristine wilderness areas—and as Rudy Brueggemann's
excellent web guide illustrates (see below), its natural beauty rivals
that of Alaska.
