“Nothing in life is free”—unless you win a free (or at least really cheap) honeymoon vacation in a promotional sweepstakes or contest. A surprising number of travel agencies and other companies run contests giving away honeymoon vacations as a way of promoting their services.
If you include all of the contests to win a trip, you could easily spend an hour a day doing nothing but entering contests. (Like you’re not busy enough planning your wedding!)
Granted, the odds of winning are small, and the honeymoon you win might not be your dream honeymoon. But if the alternative is not going on a honeymoon at all, it might just be worth the time investment. After all, someone has to win; it may as well be you.
A few tips:
- We list honeymoon contests and travel contests here on Creative Honeymoon Ideas as we come across them; check back often. Or, search the web using terms like “travel contests” and “honeymoon contests.”
- Always read the fine print. Some contests require winners to travel within a certain time frame; some require winners to blog or tweet their trip. And many contests will distribute your contact information to other wedding and travel enterprises. If you want to avoid a deluge of junk mail, be sure to opt out (if possible) of sharing your contact information with third parties.
- Some contests ask you to create something as part of your entry: a short essay, a video, a photo. While these contests take more time to enter, your odds of winning are better—especially if you think you can make a really good entry.

My fiance and I are looking to have a honeymoon in Banff, Jasper, or Lake Louis in Canada. We found each other almost 6 months and fell in love with each other. Finding each other was once in a lifetime since we are from the same town but had seperate lives and met one day. After dating my high school and college sweet heart he finally proposed on the beach in Florida during a family vacation on our 8 year anniversary. We will be having a Christmas wedding with a Winter Wonderland theme. We hope to go on a nice and romantic getaway for our holiday honeymoon:)

Im in the Marine Corps and always getting deployed. Im getting married to the best thing that has happened to me on April 9, 2011. I would absolutley love to win a honeymoon, not for me but for her, she has stuck with me through everything, including 2yrs in Okinawa, a combat tour to Iraq, and spending 7months in Africa. She deserves the best, and i wish i could give it to her, but i cant alone, i need some help in being able to give something back to her. She needs this, ive been looking forever for something to surprise her with for the honeymoon, but to no avail. Im currently training in California and paying for the wedding of her dreams, while she sits in Virginia waiting for my return, planning and putting this wedding together. If i could get some help in giving her what she deserves it would be the best thing thats happened.

I am a student at Colorado State University and we are getting married July 16, 2011, also my fiance’s birthday. We both have had tough lives. He didn’t have a lot growing up, and I lost both of my parents by the age of 19. He has stuck by me through everything with losing my parents, the ups and down, through the good times and the bad. These past two years have been the toughest years of my life. I am paying for the wedding, but can’t afford a honeymoon as well. So, it would be really great to give him the vacation he has never had and deserves.

well we are getting married august 8th 2011 and right now we have very little buget for anything and because of that the wedding will be very small, and not the wedding of my dreams. My family is doing the best that they can to make it wonderful but with the way things are no one has the money. We wont be able to afford a honeymoon so winning a trip would be amazing. Well to start off this is for my nephew jaime and he’s fiancé are getting married Oct 8,2011 they have a very low buget to go for a honeymoon. They don’t have for that to top it off they are going to live with his mom dont now how long just that they have been trying to save for a wedding it’s going to be small and simple we are helping them with what we can times are hard for us too. This is for me and my husband. We been together since we were 13(now going on 21) and we got married last year Oct 18,2010. But at the time i had also just had a baby and really just been busy being a mother, good wife, and perfect college student and him working we never really had the time or money to go on a honeymoon, it basically was spent at my mothers house with family. This trip or any trip really lol would really be perfect because living with our mother not really having too much privacy is very hard on a relationship.
