Honeymoon Disaster
Stories (Thrifty Car Rental) "Bad honeymoon? You
name it, we've heard about it...mudslides, Montezuma's revenge, food
poisoning, flaming panties, earthquakes, Cuban revolutions, ruptured
septic tanks. Okay, enough already!" Wait, they forgot to mention the
dead body and the shootout . . . Thrifty Car Rental runs an annual
honeymoon disaster story contest, and they've collected the best of the
best (or the worst of the worst) at this site. If nothing else, these
stories prove that even if your honeymoon doesn't go as planned, a sense
of humor and love for each other will get you through just about
anything. Plus, if you're honeymoon is bad enough to win, Thrifty will
pay for it.
Founders'
Honeymoon Marks Global Volunteers' Beginning Bud
Philbrook and Michele Gran took what Bud referred to as "a properly
balanced honeymoon": five days visiting theme parks in Orlando, Florida,
and five days volunteering in an impoverished Guatemalan village. "This
curious blending of Disney World and 'the real world' led not only to my
own life change, but enabled life-enhancing experiences for thousands of
others around the world," writes Michele. The couple's experience in
Guatemala led them to found Global Volunteers, which today facilitates
volunteer work in more than 80 communities worldwide.

the candy is all melted and sticky."

The Honeymoon
(Three Years Around the World)
Torild Moland Krogsrud and Nils
Krogsrud document their three-year honeymoon trip around the world (1999
- 2002): "Three years in a small sailboat? To icebergs in Greenland and
typhoons in the Pacific? It's the certain road to divorce, people have
told us a billion times already. Well, maybe they are right. But I'd
rather be a divorced circumnavigator at sea than a sour housewife at
home." Diaries, webcam, photos, and travel letters. In Norwegian and
English.
Eamon's & Vanessa's
Travel-log
This Irish couple spent nine months
traveling around the world for their honeymoon; this is their e-mail
diary of the trip, which was broadcast weekly on an Irish radio station.
"We've had prawns in Mozambique and apple pie in the Himalayas, we swam
with the sharks in Thailand and become bronze gods in Athens, we relaxed
in Monte Carlo and nearly died in India, we breezed through customs in
France and were deported from Indonesia, we climbed to the top of the
world and dived to the bottom of the ocean, we ran with the bulls and
ran away from a little scorpion. But through it all we stuck together,
through good times and bad, and are still very much in love. Now folks,
that was our type of honeymoon."
