Travelogues
Here you will find links to some of the
web's best travelogues by couples. We've selected stories
that complement ideas at Creative Honeymoon Ideas, plus some travelogues that were just too good to pass up. Links are organized in
alphabetical order according to the first destination listed in the
title.
The Apostle
Islands: Kayaking an Inland Sea
Rick Wright and Sarah Ohmann recount
their Apostle Islands kayaking/camping adventure. Even if you don't want
to kayak the Apostle Islands, their well-written story offers a good
glimpse of what the islands are like. Along the way they paddle into
caves at the base of one island's cliffs, explore a lighthouse, discover
a complex of abandoned old cottages, and recount some of the lore of the
islands. Pictures and a good map included.
Valerie and Joe's
Excellent Adventure
One couple's adventure in Costa Rica; great writing
and photos, plus a cool interactive map of the country. "We are
discovering that hiking here is much different than hiking in the United
States. Our usual hiking at home is head down, watching the path,
full-speed-ahead-how-far-can-you-get. Here, you have to walk slowly,
head and eyes up, ears perked for sounds. The idea is not how far can
you get, but how much can you see."
Carmen and Jim's
Virtual Tours (Greece, Italy, Spain, Ecuador)
Travelogues, tips and pictures from Jim and Carmen's travels to Greece,
Italy, Spain and Ecuador: "Our main goal is to share with you the
excitement and sense of adventure such a trip entails through our
travelogues and in the process we'll also pass on travel ideas, tips,
and strategies for travel."
A Matter of Snow-How
(Icehotel-Sweden)
Mandy Trickett's engaging account of
her trip to the Swedish Icehotel, with photos. "You may think there is
little romance in a trip to the Ice Hotel," she writes. "As hundreds of 'Ice Princess'
brides will tell you, you’d be wrong. There is something intrinsically
magical about lighting a hotel with candles so small they won’t melt the
walls. About piling the softness of reindeer skins wherever guests are
likely to sit. About sitting under the vastness of the northern sky,
watching the stars perform their slow, eternal dance." With photos.
Sweden and the Ice
Hotel
Terry and Louise Sugrue's account of
their trip to the Icehotel; lots of great pictures give a "you are
there" feel to the short narrative.
Jeff and Faye's Incredible Trip To
Malta
Personal accounts and hundreds of photos from an
American couple's trip to Malta. Unique map and photo tour of the
Maltese Islands.
