Luxury Cruise Honeymoon

When we talk about "luxury cruises"
here, we mean cruise experiences on ships with a low crew-to-passenger
ratio, spacious staterooms, and amenities not found on other ships.
Here's a sampling of some luxury cruises to whet your appetite:
Queen Mary 2
Cunard launched the ultra-high
class Queen Mary 2 in 2004. In addition to
the somewhat mind-boggling features you find on larger cruise ships (all
the restaurants, shopping, multiple pools, gym facilities, and shows),
the QM 2 also has…a planetarium, commissioned art worth $5 million
dollars (really), virtual reality golf, and a variety of classes on art,
literature, and film making. Oh, yes, and afternoon tea (this is a
British ship). But it is the grandeur that is setting this ship apart
from the rest: come prepared to dress “black tie” in the evening. This
is one fancy set of digs. You can take this ship to Britain (and/or
back), or for a trip around New England and Eastern Canada, or the
Caribbean, starting and ending in New York.
Seabourn Cruises
Seabourn specializes in luxury on a
more intimate scale, with a capacity of 208 guests.
Radisson Seven Seas
"Luxury goes exploring" is the motto of
this cruise line, which specializes in off-the-beaten track destinations
such as Antarctica, the Arctic, New Zealand, Russia's Kamchatka
Peninsula, and more. Heck, if you have a spare $54,000 lying around, you
can even spend 108 days cruising around the world (that would be per
person, by the way). All of that exploring is done in the finest style;
the Seven Seas Voyager, for example, is an all-suite, all-balcony
wonder with four dining venues.
Crystal Cruises
Named the best large-ship cruise line
by both Conde Nast Traveler and Travel and Leisure
magazines, Crystal Cruises' Crystal Harmony features spacious
staterooms, and according to the company, "private verandahs, a Caesars
Palace at Sea casino, a Feng Shui-inspired spa, complete fitness
facilities, 360° teak Promenade Deck, paddle tennis, two pools, Jacuzzi,
plus award-winning cuisine served in three separate and distinctive
dinner restaurants." Take dance lessons, attend lectures, catch a movie,
watch a Broadway-style production. The on-board Creative Learning
Institute offers classes on dozens of topics: wine-tasting, tai chi,
gourmet cooking, acting, real estate appraisal, and more.
Cost
Rates start at about $2000 per person
and go up (quickly) from there. Be sure to check the fine print for
hidden costs before signing up, though: those port fees, fuel
surcharges, shore excursions, and gratuities add up quickly. And don't
forget to factor in air fare to your port of departure!
